What we collect

When you sign up on our site, we ask for:

Name and email — required so we can reach you.
ZIP code, township — optional. We organize by township, and this helps us plan actions and events that reach across Boone County.
Phone number — optional, only used if a member of our team needs to reach you about something time-sensitive. We do not send updates by text — your messaging app will not be spammed.
Skills and time availability — optional, so we can match you to volunteer opportunities that fit.
Visibility preference — required: tells us whether you want to be publicly listed/thanked, or kept on the list privately.

What we do with it

We use your information to:

Send you occasional emails about events, volunteer opportunities, and important updates.
Connect you with the right squad or township lead based on where you live and what you can offer.
Recognize public supporters in our communications (only if you said it's okay).

Quiet supporter — what that means

If you check "Quiet supporter" on the sign-up form, we will never publicly list your name, photograph you in event coverage, or post about you on social media without your explicit, separate "yes." You stay on the email list. You hear about everything. You just stay private.

This is for our neighbors who are pastors, lawyers, doctors, teachers, candidates, public servants, or anyone whose job or family situation makes public political affiliation complicated. We see you, we appreciate you, and we will protect your name.

What we do NOT do

We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, ever.
We do not share your information with political parties, candidate campaigns, or other organizations without your explicit permission.
We do not use your information for advertising or commercial purposes.
We do not track you across the web or sell your browsing data.

How we store it

Your information is stored in our internal contact list (currently a private spreadsheet, eventually an EveryAction database hosted by Indivisible National). Access is limited to a small number of trained volunteers — typically Virginia and Jan, our co-founders, plus one or two squad leads as needed. IBI does not accept monetary contributions or sell any products, and our group is unincorporated and will remain so — we need your time, talent, and ideas, not your money.

How to update or delete your info

Email hello@indivisibleboone.org with the subject line "Update my info" or "Delete my info" and we will:

Update your record (change your visibility preference, contact info, etc.) within a few days.
Or delete your record entirely, including from any email lists, within a few days.

You can also unsubscribe from any email we send via the unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to count page views (so we know what's working) — no third-party advertising trackers, no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel.

If something changes

If we ever make a meaningful change to how we handle your information, we'll send a heads-up email to everyone on the list before the change takes effect. No surprises.
